As an independent nonprofit started with seed funding from Patagonia, Home Planet Fund has been directly supporting Indigenous peoples and local communities through grant-giving programs.

In Patagonia’s latest Progress Report, they highlight their continued work and dedication towards environmental restoration. As noted in Patagonia’s report, through their original support with the creation of Home Planet Fund, we have been working across with communities across the world – passing down knowledge from generations of women in the Pacific Islands, farming around the Third Pole, supporting sustainability in Alaska Native communities, and securing tenure rights for pastoralists in East Africa.

I don’t believe we will ever make a serious effort to saving our home planet from all its threats until we humans adopt a spiritual connection to the natural world. Saving Indigenous cultures and working and learning from them would be a good start.”
