Blue Eyes of the Pamirs: Voices from the Top of the World

 

Glaciers cover only 6% of Tajikistan’s territory where Home Planet Fund’s partners live and work, but they play a crucial role in sustaining the region’s agricultural economy. They are the primary source of drinking water, especially in mountainous regions, yet are shrinking year by year due to environmental degradation. The residents of the mountain village of Bulunkul, located on the shores of Lake Yashilkul, live at an altitude of 3,737 meters above sea level. In this high-altitude village, people live under uncertain conditions, facing various difficulties as the ecosystem changes. The film will explore what natural disasters they have endured and how they plan for the future.
